Top 10 of 2013: Kaskade - Atmosphere

I love that a lot of producers are beginning to make albums these days. Making an album is hard. EDM producers are used to just cranking out singles, and each one can be totally unrelated to the next. With an album, there has to be some sort of cohesiveness to it that brings it all together. There have been many attempts by producers to create albums this year, but I do not think anyone did it better than Kaskade did on Atmosphere.

I love that Kaskade was finally able to blend his two styles together to make this amazing full length release. It was the perfect combination of old Kasakde and current Kaskade. Tracks like Atmosphere, Last Chance and Feeling the Night are his party bangers that can be heard at festival's around the world. On the flip-side, he has some more deep house kind of tunes like the three tracks that chart different (and i'm sure, for Kaskade, frequently traveled) flight paths across America.

The album also has some cool and interesting features. The familiar female vocalists: Becky Jean Williams, Haley and Lights all make an appearance, as well as Lat Night Alumni, the electronic band from Salt Lake City that Kaskade is a member of. He also brings on some new and interesting features like School of Seven Bells or Zip Zip Through The Night. The track Something Something with Zip Zip Through The Night became one of my favorite tracks on the album after multiple listens through. I love how different it is for an EDM Producer to create, and I love how Kaskade is always willing to experiment with his music. Check it out below

This is a great EDM album. If you haven't your support one way or another for Kaskade, Do it now! Follow him on Facebook for tour dates and listen to his tunes on the Audible Twilight Best of 2013 Playlist!

Top 10 of 2013: A$AP Rocky - Long.Live.A$AP

It was hard for me to pick a favorite hip hop album of the year. There were a couple contenders: like Pusha T (Who I have already told you my thoughts on last month) or Chance The Rapper with Acid Rap. But, after thinking about the diversity of songs that each rapper had on their album, I had to give it to A$AP Rocky's debut, Long.Live.A$AP.

The very first thing that stands out to me about this album are the features. It has some of the biggest rap names in the game sprinkled all throughout. The radio hit, Fuckin Problems, features 3 of the biggest names in 2013: 2 Chainz, Drake & Kendrick Lamar. He also attempts to blend genres and leave his comfort zone by bringing on the likes of Florence Welch from Florence & The Machine and Skrillex. Check out what I mean in I Come Apart.

This song has so many good tracks on it that it is hard to pick which ones I want to highlight. However, there is one song that was a big influence on picking this as the only hip hop album to feature on this list. 1Train is almost like a cypher of sorts, as it features a bunch of heavy hitters all over the same, repetitive beat. Kendrick Lamar kills it, like always. Joey Badass, Yelawolf and Danny Brown also lay down bad ass verses. Check out this gem of a track below.

Then there is classic A$AP tracks on the album, like Goldie. This is quintessential A$AP Rocky, just casually spitting over a hard, simplistic beat about what makes him better than the rest. I love this track, as it's perfect for just cruising around town. Check it out below

Check out the rest of the album on my Best of 2013 Spotify Playlist or follow him on Facebook!

Top 10 of 2013: Disclosure - Settle

2013 marked a big year for the resurgence of house and deep house in America. People are finally beginning to mellow out from all the raging that's been going on the past few years. One of the biggest acts responsible for this is Disclosure.

To start their debut album, these two London based brothers found a genius sample of a motivational speaker and flipped it into a sick deep house track called When A Fire Starts To Burn. This track was not only featured in Skrillex's BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix earlier this year, but could also be heard in clubs around the world. However, shortly after that on Settle is the song that blew them up, featuring another Audible Twilight favorite, Sam Smith, called Latch. Check out the official video for Latch below!

Another great track from this album is Help Me Lose My Mind, featuring the beautiful voice of London Grammar vocalist, Hannah Reid. This song is perfect for getting your shit together in the morning or relaxing after a long day.

If you dig the sound of these two songs, check out the rest of their music on my Best of 2013 Spotify Playlist, follow them on Facebook or check out their SoundCloud for remixes and much more!

Top 10 of 2013: The 1975 - The 1975 (LP)

I remember when I first discovered these guys in 2012 like it was yesterday. This band has come a long way from the Facedown EP and the Sex EP. (Although, I won't lie.. I miss those EP's a lot!) I waited over a year for this album to come out, and when it finally did, it was no disappointment. The 1975 was easily the biggest buzz band of the year.

Prior to this album they released a trilogy of EP's, each all built around a specific single for their debut album. Through those EP's we heard Sex, The City, and Chocolate, but we were still thirsty for more. The album boasted sixteen tracks, which in this day and age, is a lot for a debut album. I feel like it could have cut out a song or two at no cost to the overall project, but more music is more music!

At first listen the song that jumped out at me personally was Robbers. I really loved its stadium sound and mellow rhythm. Check out this amazing, but less popular track from the album.

The most recent single off the album is their track Girls, which they released a video for a couple months ago. This song has the 80's sounding guitars that is prevalent throughout the whole album which evokes memories of chasing after girls in high school and yearning to be cool. Watch the video below.

As referenced in the opening scene of this video, the band seems to have gotten closer and closer to pop music as they progress. Although they are popular now, I still don't consider them to be a pop band. But... Then again... Maybe I am living in the past and thinking of how their music sounded before this album... So i'll leave that judgement up to you. Check out this old track of theirs from one of their old EPs that is a fan favorite, even though it didn't make the album. The difference in the bands sound is very noticeable, granted they were released about a year apart.

Make sure you follow the band on Facebook and check out all the remixes of their tracks on their SoundCloud! Especially the Ryan Hemsworth remix of Sex!

Top 10 of 2013: Real Friends - Put Yourself Back Together

I used to be HUGE into pop-punk and mosh pits and getting injured at shows. That was how it all started for me back in high school. I had almost completely fallen off the pop-punk train, until I listened to Real Friends tell it like it is on this record.

The style of pop-punk that really grabbed me was bands that could blend the raw intensity of punk with the outpouring of emotions typically found in emo music. This band fit that niche perfectly for me and really brought me back to my days of adolescent frustration with love and life. The lyrics are very revealing of the singer's life and his struggles with his relationships and growing up. This band gets 5 stars for their honesty and their optimistic perspective on life, even when things seem terrible.

The album opens with one of my favorite tracks by Real Friends, called Late Nights In My Car. This album sets the tone and the overall theme of the album right away. There are some reoccurring motifs the singer alludes to in multiple songs. He continually mentions being a "Lost boy with bony knees" and seems to have most of his songs based around a certain bad relationship he was in. Check out the video for this track below.

Next I wanted to highlight a song that definitely brings the band more on the emo side of pop-punk. I've Given Up On You is a ballad to one of his exes, explaining how she has inspired so many songs of his, and how he is still struggling to get over what happened. The vocals are only accompanied by an electric guitar, which makes this their quasi-acoustic track on the album. They did an excellent job providing that one track for the album that will tug on your heart strings. Listen below!

I want to congratulate the boys of Real Friends on signing to Fearless Records this week! That is very exciting and I can't wait to get my hands on more music by this talented group. Make sure to like them on Facebook so you can catch them on tour soon! They will be at Soma in SD with The Wonder Years in March! Listen to their EP on our Audible Twilight Best of 2013 Playlist on Spotify!

Top 10 of 2013: Dream Koala - Odyssey EP

France has been on point with their young prodigy game the past couple years. First we had Madeon take the world by storm, now we have Yndi Ferreira, a.k.a. Dream Koala.

Yndi's career has gone from total obscurity to rising star in a very short time. His music is not exactly appealing to the masses in any way, but he was fortunate enough to have the Odyssey EP debuted in Vogue Magazine in October. The reason this made my list was because not only is this release really unique and different, but it also marks Dream Koala's transition from being a kid making music in his room, to being a full time musician. That transition shows in the progress made between this EP and his previous work.

The title track from the EP really shows his musical style. His music is basically comprised of downtempo electronic productions, full of samples, with his own vocals and guitar laid over the top. I have gotten to watch him perform live via the internet once and it was really cool to see him use the midi controller to create the beats and then play his guitar and sing throughout the rest of the song, while using loops to bring it all together. Check out the video for Odyssey below.

The other song I like from the EP has been unreleased for a long time, but he retouched it and made it better for the EP. It's called Ocean. It's got more of a head-bobbing beat than the other tracks, and is great for zoning out, especially as Yndi sings "don't wake me up" over and over again. Get your ambient vibes from Ocean below.

Make sure you Like him on Facebook and check out his SoundCloud for more of his older material. And, of course, this EP will be on the Audible Twilight Best of 2013 Playlist on Spotify!

Top 10 of 2013: Kodaline - In A Perfect World (LP)

After you hear Kodaline's debut album... you will fall in love with them. Just a fair warning!

This Dublin based band (yes... another band from the UK! Something in the air there makes people musically amazing..) first made waves under their old band name, 21 Demands, with a chart topping single in 2007, but reformed in 2011 as Kodaline. The album is full of incredible acoustic rock jams that sounds kind of like what One Republic would sound like is they turned folk. Every song is one you can either sing along to at the top of your lungs or just relax and mellow out to. Pretty perfect combo, in my opinion!

My favorite track from In A Perfect World is All Comes Down. It gives me tingles down my spine every time. The soft acapella beginning builds with some piano and simple percussion, which leads into stadium ready guitars and it all culminates into one epic sing-along that would close out any concert in the most incredible way. Check it out here.

There are so many other tracks on this album that are amazing, it is hard to pick which to highlight. Their current single making its rounds right now is titled All I Want. The song starts soft and builds into a nice, powerful rock song by the end. Definitely worth a listen, but my other favorite track I wanted to post is Way Back When. This upbeat, folk rock track about living life and having fun doing it, and living without regrets is the perfect way to brighten up your day. Remind yourself not to take life too seriously as you listen to it below!

Follow the band on Facebook or catch them on tour in the US in February! I will be at their show at The Casbah in San Diego if you care to join! All my favorite tracks of theirs will be on the Audible Twilight Best of 2013 Playlist on Spotify for your listening pleasure!

Top 10 of 2013: Swim Deep - Where The Heaven Are We (LP)

I waited many months to get my hands on this album. Where The Heaven Are We is Swim Deep's debut album, and it put these young British rockers on the map!

I had discovered these guys months before their album was supposed to release, but their SoundCloud was full of songs, so I didn't need to be too impatient. Initially their style and sound is a little strange; they sound like they grew up by the beach making bright, sun-sprayed indie rock jams, but they're from gloomy Birmingham in the UK.. so that doesn't exactly add up. But somehow they are able to channel a vibe that is completely foreign to their environment at home, which is pretty cool.

The first single off the album was the track King City. This track is infectiously poppy, and its about wanting more from life than you have now, which everyone can relate too. Get down to the track below!

My first favorite track off the album was definitely The Sea. I LOVED its laid back, happy vibe that is perfect for a stroll down the beach or through the park on a gorgeous day. It was on every summer playlist I made this year. Put your Raybans on and go for a stroll to it sometime.. you won't regret it!

Other notable tracks on the album that strike my fancy are Honey, Soul Trippin, She Changes The Weather and Francisco. You can hear all these songs on the Audible Twilight Best of 2013 Spotify Playlist!!

Follow Swim Deep on Facebook and cross your fingers with me that by some miracle they make it to Coachella this year!!!

Amber Run

One year and one day ago Amber Run became a band. Now they have an awesome EP and a brand new single to share with the world!

Amber Run and a London based rock band with a bright future. They put out their first EP early in 2013 and it has established early on that these boys not only have talent, but they know how to put the pieces together to make something fresh and new for our eager ears.

The first EP called Noah features 4 beautiful indie rock songs with that indie/UK sound that I have come to love. The title track stands out from the very first line, and continues to pull you into their world for the next three minutes and fifty seconds. The vocal melody grabbed me immediately and the way the song builds from start to finish is really captivating. Check out the video below!

They just released their latest single called Heaven and I could not be happier with it upon first listen. If it is any indication of where they are headed for the direction of their album, I expect their debut full length to be one special album. I love the guitar riff in the intro and how it starts off so in your face and then drops back down, only to begin to build back up to that level throughout the rest of the song. I already cannot wait for the next thing they release! Check out Heaven below.

Follow the boys on Facebook and check out their music on our Spotify Playlist!

Top 10 of 2013: The Dangerous Summer - Golden Record

The Dangerous Summer have been one of my all time favorite bands for about six or seven years now. Every album they release is amazing. I would describe them as the perfect cross between an indie and an emo band, which is how I have been able to still love them all the way from high school to now.

They released their third full length album this summer, called Golden Record. The year or two leading up to the album release was full of turmoil within the band. They had lost 2 of the founding 4 members by the time they needed to record this album. They enlisted the help of drummer, Ben Cato and guitarist, Matt Kennedy (who is also involved with The Sun And The Sea) and were able to overcome the adversity to create a great piece of art.

Their music is as polished as ever and the addition of the new members adds new elements to the overall sound of the band. You can really tell on the more uptempo tracks on the album, like Miles Apart and We Will Wait In The Fog. The music is brighter and more optimisticAnother thing about the album that has progressed from their previous work is AJ's lyric songwriting ability. His lyrics are very revealing about his life and the things he has gone through since the last album and how he feels about those changes. Listening to third album is almost like reading his personal diary. It takes true talent to be able to connect to people through music the way he does.

Let me give you some music to listen to from them that will give you an idea of why I love this band so much.

The album can be found on Spotify or hear all my favorite tracks on the Audible Twilight playlist! PLEASE follow them on Facebook if you dig them. I want to make sure this is not the last album they make, so show them some love!!

Top 10 of 2013: Goldroom - Embrace EP

Goldroom is easily one of my biggest come ups of the year. His music opened up a whole new genre of dance music to me, and I have been obsessed ever since.

This year he released his Embrace EP as a follow up to his Angeles EP from last year. It is a definite step up in all aspects from his previous work. The production quality sky rocketed and the music became more electronic sounding, which is always fun. Although, after seeing him perform his music with a live band, it still sounds super cool with a more organic, live sound as well.

The title track from the EP is by far the stand out track. It is so catchy and the beat is perfect for that summertime pool party atmosphere. I know I bumped this every beautiful Saturday morning to get my day started and my blood pumping. Check it out below!

The other tracks from the EP that I love are Adalita, Fifteen and Only You Can Show Me which you can find on both Spotify and his SoundCloud!

What originally got me into Goldroom though were his remixes. He has SO MANY amazing remixes.. it's kind of ridiculous how good every one actually is. Let me show you a couple of my all time favorites.

All of his remixes are for free download! So grab them on his Facebook!

The Neighbourhood - The Love Collection EP

The Neighbourhood went on their first nation wide headlining tour this year after releasing their debut full length I Love You. LP. While on tour, they had three different openers across the tour. Each time they began with a band on their respective leg of the tour, they released a single. Those three songs make up The Love Collection EP.

The EP consists of  West Coast, No Grey and $ting. The first two tracks are much more hip hop influenced than any of their other work. It is a nice change of pace from their typical sound, even though it still has that signature Neighbourhood vibe. The last track, $ting, definitely seems like it could have been on the album. The reverbed-out guitars and ominous percussion bring a dark tone to the song and the pained, remorseful lyrics fit perfectly with the music. Check out my favorite track below!

The EP is up on Spotify and in our playlist for your listening pleasure!

Shy Girls

Sometimes you just need some music to play on a late night after a couple bottles of wine to set the mood. Some baby making music. Well, when that time arises, throw on some Shy Girls and see what happens! You won't be disappointed.

The first time I heard of Shy Girls, it was courtesy of DJ/Producer Cyril Hahn. Cyril Hahn featured Shy Girls on his latest EP in the song Perfect Form. I loved the way Shy Girls sounded over Cyrils smooth, bouncey beat and had to find out more about that voice. Check out the track below.

Once I found his original work though, I was an instant fan. His sexy, new-age R&B sound makes you want to get to know your body a little better than you thought you did. Check out his Timeshare EP on Spotify and get your freak on tonight. For your convenience, here are a couple of my favorite tracks off the EP.

His SoundCloud page is also full of remixes of his tracks! So as a last gift to you, here is a sweet remix of his track When I Say I Love You from Saux!

Childish Gambino - Because The Internet (LP)

I know the album was leaked last week, but I wanted it to be official when I posted this. So... *drum roll* ...Childish Gambino just dropped his second full length album called Because the Internet today!!! WOOHOO!!!

It has been a long wait for all of his fans to hear the new tracks. After checking out the leak and listening to every song, I can easily say that his music only gets better with time. His lyrics are as clever as ever, the production is more interesting and unique (reminiscent of Frank Ocean's Orange album), and his features take the album even one more step up. The album features the likes of Chance The Rapper, Azealia Banks and Jhene Aiko all over Gambino's own productions. The album is really solid. I feel like most rap albums have the hits and the rest is mediocre, but not this one. You won't feel the need to skip songs at all, as each one is cool in it's own way. That's not to say it doesn't get a little weird at times.. because it does. However, his talent still shows through the weird intros and interludes he creates to maintain a specific mood from one song to the next.

You can listen to the album in it's entirety on Spotify above or hear my favorite tracks from the album on the Audible Twilight Spotify playlist! For the real fans, you can purchase the album on iTunes or on his website. Support the artists you love!

Oliver Nelson

There is no song that Oliver Nelson cannot remix into a funky nu-disco party tune. I can see every remix of his topping my most played tracks at one time or another. His sound is so effortlessly fun that you can't help but put a smile on and wiggle those hips a little bit.

This Swedish producer can do no wrong. He literally has so many good tracks that I don't know which ones to highlight. Just promise me you will check out more of his music on his SoundCloud, because I won't be able to get to all of it.

He has remixed a few Audible Twilight faves, including Mikky Ekko, Urban ConeSam Smith, as well as some other amazing artists like: Justin Timberlake, Foster The People, Whitney Houston, Passion Pit, Bon Iver and the list continues. I took the time to pick out the best remixes of his for your listening pleasure. Just know, this was not an easy task ;)

Make sure you check out all his other tracks by clicking the links in each artists name mentioned earlier in the post! They're all terrific. His music will be on our Spotify playlist as well. Check out his Facebook for all new releases as well!

Natural Animal

I am really digging the whole electronic island vibe lately; similar to Thomas Jack who I posted about last month. This time it's the sounds of Natural Animal.

I discovered these two from a remix they did of another one of my favorite bands of 2013, Bear Mountain. They remixed their track Faded and took it to a whole new level. They turned already awesome track into a dance track suitable for any day club/pool party setting. Check out the remix below.

However, after hearing that remix I check out their SoundCloud to see they have legit original work too! This year they released their Who Are You EP with 4 awesome summer jams. I really enjoy the last 2 songs: The Light and Who You Are. I cannot get enough of their vibes. Listen to the whole EP below!

Follow them on Facebook for new music whenever it's released, and their SoundCloud has much more music on it as well. Here is another remix of theirs I enjoy for your listening pleasure:

The Colourist

The first time I heard this band's name was on the Coachella 2013 line-up. Unfortunately for me, I did not go see them... but they just released their first pieces of music to the world a couple of months ago... so you can't blame me! Let me shed some light on The Colourist for you, just in case they wind up playing a festival near you someday!

The Colourist hails from Orange County, in beautiful southern California. The band has played some impressive gigs for a band that has only been around for about 2 years now, and only released music about 3 months ago. From Coachella to opening up for Metric, Youngblood Hawke and Grouplove to name a few, these guys definitely have their foot on the gas pedal!

Their debut EP, titled Lido, features 4 fun, pop/rock tracks that are sure to keep your feet moving. The single from the EP, Little Games, is their radio-ready, undeniably catchy introduction to the bands first release. Watch the official video here:

My favorite track off the EP is definitely We Won't Go Home. This track plays to your nostalgia by bringing back memories of being young and reckless and wanting to stay out all night without a cause. Let your inner-rebel out by jamming to this song.

Feel free to follow The Colourist on Facebook or listen to them on our Audible Twilight Spotify Playlist along with all the other artists I post about.

Urban Cone

Today I want to shed some light on Swedish indie-pop band Urban Cone. Their radio friendly jams are catchy and fun and perfect for a walk through the city on a sunny day.

Their music is very intriguing to me. I think it's great how they can be pop and indie at the same time, and also blend in some electronic elements on top of that. Their sound seems to have been perfected rather quickly, as they began in 2010 and by early 2013 they released their debut album called Our Youth to critical acclaim. The album has an overall cohesive sound and shows strong songwriting talent. Check out this track called We Should Go To France to get you warmed up.

Before the album came out, the band released a single called New York that is a bright, bubbly pop rock song. I especially love this song. It's a shame they did not put it on their album. Not sure what happened there.. but check it out as well! (Also, there is an awesome remix of this track by Oliver Nelson that is definitely worth checking out!)

But don't let these two songs be the only you hear by them today. Their whole album is excellent, and it can be heard in it's entirety on their SoundCloud and on Spotify, and it will be added to the Audible Twilight Spotify Playlist for your convenience. Also, 'Like' them on Facebook!

Other tracks to check out: Kings & Queens, Deja Vu, Kids & Love and Urban Photograph. Oh.. and the remixes of their songs are all on point.

One last treat for you all... they have also worked with EDM producer John Dahlback on a certified banger called We Were Gods! They are some talented dudes.. listen to it below!

Bipolar Sunshine

I randomly stumbled onto Bipolar Sunshine browsing through artists on Spotify and I am so happy I found him! I really love his voice and the music he sings over is a great blend of multiple genres all coming together differently on each track.

The song I found of his on Spotify is called Fire off of his Aesthetics EP. The song is both beautiful and introspective. I was initially grabbed by the simple guitar intro, and then once the vocals came in I was hooked. I love how he does his verses in more a spoken word/rap style and sings for the choruses. That kind of stuff gets me goin!

The whole EP is fantastic though! Some more upbeat songs on there too if that's more your style. Check out the rest of it HERE!

His most recent release to date is his Drowning Butterflies EP, released on November 11th. Check out the title track below! To my chagrin, it turns out that every song on this EP is awesome too, so it was too hard for me to pick a favorite... I am leaving that task up to you ;) find out your favorite HERE!

If you love Bipolar Sunshine like I do now, make sure you follow him on Facebook! Hopefully Spotify will re-upload his music soon so you can all have access to it on my Spotify playlist as well.

Bondax - Fires (Feat. Josh Record)

Bondax has been killing it lately with their fun yet soothing electronic sounds. They have been touring like crazy all over the world and there is no slowing down for them in sight.

The Lancaster (UK) duo dropped their latest tune this morning called Fires featuring Josh Record. It is a perfect winter time electro slow jam. These guys are so talented at capturing a specific mood with their music. Each song is different from the last yet they all retain that bondax sound. Take a listen to the new track below and check their Soundcloud for more music!

HelloGoodbye - Everything Is Debatable (LP)

It is amazing to me that, as weird as this band was when it started, they are still going strong and making amazing albums! Hellogoodbye is back with their third full length release, and it is as fresh as ever!

The album, titled Everything Is Debatable, was released just over a month ago. It is a solid follow up to their last album, Would It Kill You? It is full of quirky rock and roll jams equipped with charmingly poignant lyrics, but the songs and the production both seem more polished. You will also notice their departure from the Ukulele they so often incorporated into their music, which has been swapped out for electronic synths. After my first thorough listen, I can confidently say this is their best album to date. Every song brings something new and fun to the table. Take a listen to the album on Spotify or watch the video for the title track below!

Other notable tracks from the album: Just Don't Let Go Just Don't, Die Young; Die Dumb; Not Soon, and And Everything Becomes a Blur. Make sure you throw Hollegoodbye a 'Like' on Facebook, or check their website for tour dates. And if your really dig the music, buy it on iTunes!

Mikky Ekko

Mikky Ekko is one hit single away from being a star. His voice is very well suited for radio, he just needs that one song to push him off the precipice to stardom.

You may have heard his name before. He is featured in Rihanna's track from this year called Stay. That definitely puts Mikky on fame highway; headed west. However, before he blows up, I wanted to shed some light on his talent and get you introduced to him before you hear him all over the radio. The song that first brought him to my attention was actually a remix of his song Pull Me Down by one of my favorite new producers, Ryan Hemsworth.

I think his voice is amazing. He's kind of like a white Bruno Mars with less to lose, which makes his music more raw and passionate! Mikky's songs are beautiful and emotional just like Bruno Mars, he just hasn't gotten commercial yet so the music is still real and pure. Check out what I mean in this more recent release.

He also has a song released on the latest Hunger Games movie soundtrack that is excellent, called Place For Us. Although that song is great, I really wanted to end this post on a softer note. On the same EP he released Pull Me Down on, he released Feels Like The End. This song is absolutely beautiful. It shows his range as an artist, which I am sure you will see more of whenever he puts out a debut LP. Take a listen

Make sure you follow Mikky on Facebook and check out more of his tracks on Spotify and SoundCloud! You won't be disappointed.

Sam Smith

Many of you know him as 'That guy with the really awesome voice' in Latch by Disclosure. But Sam Smith has so much more to offer!

Sam Smith is a male vocalist from the UK that found his big break in 2012 by getting the call to sing on Disclosure's first single from Settle which came out late last year. Ever since then it seems everyone knows him, but doesn't really have a clue at the same time. I figured I should help try to change that! He just posted his latest song on his Facebook today so I felt obligated to share it with you all! Check out Money On My Mind!

Sam Smith is currently working on his debut full length album as we speak. After hearing his solo work, I could not be more excited to hear what he does in 10 to 12 songs! Money On My Mind is definitely a track I could see being on his album, but here is my favorite song of his that may or may not also make the cut, called Lay Me Down

Sam was recently selected by Vevo as one of the artists to be featured in their DSCVR campaign, which is huge for an artist like him. That was shortly after he released a song with Naughty Boy called La La La that gained a lot of radio play in the UK, as did Latch, which helped thrust Sam into the limelight. Watch the popular video for La La La below!

Keep your eye out for this unique talent! Throw him a 'Like' on Facebook and check out his other work on his SoundCloud!

MS MR - Think Of You (Haerts Remix)

Audible Twilight favorites, Haerts, have just dropped their FIRST remix ever as a band for MS MR's track Think Of You. I really dig the direction they went for with this one. The tempo is upbeat and it has that 80's influenced sound that you can clearly hear in all their music. I hope they continue to release remixes, because this one is excellent. I can't stop tapping my feet!

Also, after checking out MS MR's SoundCloud, I found this awesome remix of another one of their tracks called Hurricane that is along a similar vein as the Haerts remix above. Check out CHVRCHES spin on Hurricane!

Justin Timberlake - TKO (Remix Feat J.Cole, ASAP Rocky, Pusha T)

Holy Remix, Batman!!! When I saw this combo of rappers brought together to remix a song by Justin Timberlake... I didn't even have to listen to it before I downloaded it. These are three of the sickest rappers in the game right now. You already know how I feel about Pusha T and I have slowly become a huge A$AP Rocky fan. Although I have never been that into J. Cole... his verse is incredible too! OK.. Enough talk, get to listening!!

Thomas Jack

I stumbled onto this guys SoundCloud page this morning and saw that he listed 'Tropical House' as the genre for his tracks/remixes and instantly knew I had found something I would like. Thomas Jack is a electronic producer from Australia that relocated to Miami to pursue his music career.

His sound has that very laidback house vibe with a tropical twist that takes you straight to your happy place. I have been seriously digging this style of music this year and couldn't be more pleased with this find. If you are a fan of Goldroom or overall good vibes, check out his remix of Benjamin Francis Leftwich that has been topping the Hype Machine charts lately!

Other notable remixes of his include his versions of Teenage Crime by Adrian Lux and Little Talks by Of Monsters & Men. Check them out as well!

His remixes really show off his style, but his originals are equally as good! It seems like his originals are abit more club oriented while his remixes are more for listening pleasure, or at least for a different setting than a nightclub. The original mixes have stronger bass lines but retain the tropical-sounding melodies that Thomas Jack is known for. Here is one that stood out to me the most.

This style of house music is definitely still emerging and growing, but I am very excited to see more artists like this that will continue to progress the music and hopefully begin to steal more listeners from the big room, electro-house craze like it did to me.

Follow Thomas Jack on Faceboook and/or Twitter to stay up to date on his whereabouts. If you like this sound, DEFINITELY check out my current fave Goldroom as well! So amazing.

Thumpers

It's everyone's least favorite day of the week, so I wanted to make sure today's first post was a nice pick-me-up this morning. Check out Thumpers!

This London-based 'Alt. Pop' duo has been quickly making a name for themselves after only scratching the surface of the internet last year. They have crafted a unique sound, comprised of a blend of catchy, radio friendly hooks and effervescent alt. rock/synthpop that is undeniably awesome. Here is the first song they ever released, called Dancing's Done

Upon it's release, it gained massive traction on all Major UK radio stations, including BBC Radio 1. This has allowed the band to tour extensively throughout the UK and to continue to making more music as Thumpers. Here is another track for your listening pleasure that has come out more recently.

Check out the boys on Facebook or listen to more of their music on SoundCloud, and, as always, they have been added to our Spotify Playlist so make sure you subscribe!

Asa

I have been REALLY into ambient music lately. My ears are hungover from all the rage-tastic electronic music that is currently popular. Recently I've been wanting my music to caress me with beautiful beats instead of taking my ears home and having sloppy drunken sex with them. If you, at times, also have a similar point of view, then check out Asa.

Asa was really the first producer that turned me onto this kind of music. The first time I heard his music was from this really cool video that accompanied tons of amazing video clips of nature with his latest EP at the time. Check out the video below, you won't regret it.

I remember how taken I was with the music from the video. It was so different to me at the time. I loved that he used real recordings of nature and paired them with unique vocal samples and threw it all over some really mellow, yet interesting beats. The best song from that video is this one, which also comes with a cool video!

You can find the whole EP on Spotify, along with his other EP, called Your Secret, where he partnered with Stumbeline, who is also partly responsible for the track above.

Recently Asa teamed up with KOAN Sound to release a 5-song EP called Sanctuary. It is absolutely brilliant. It is the perfect combination of the two's sounds: KOAN Sound bringing their glitch-hop/bass sounds together with Asa's beautiful dubstep/drum and bass compositions. The standout tracks for me are Sanctuary and Starlite.

Check out the rest of the EP on Spotify

Check out Asa's SoundCloud for even more music, and like him on Facebook to always be on top of his latest releases!

Lily & Madeleine

They say that most of time the simplest option is always the best. This rule of thumb even applies to music! True talent lies in simplicity. Lily & Madeleine prove that statement.

These two sisters from Indianapolis (one 18, one 16) have just released their first full length, self-titled album. It consists of stripped down, mostly acoustic arrangements (including strings on some songs) with blissful vocal harmonies that only blood relations can create. Pulling off vocal harmonies like these is not the easiest thing to do, especially on every single song! Yet they are as on point as they could ever be. In fact, don't take my word for it... Check it out for yourself!

But to fully appreciate the sound that these girls have created, you have to take a break from your busy life, turn off your cell phones and laptops and just listen. I know that sounds scary to most of you, but if you let the music fill your ears and listen to the lyrics inside of those crystalline harmonies, you will see exactly what I mean. Here is the album for your listening pleasure.

If you like what you hear, show them how much buy supporting their music! Their album is for sale on their Bandcamp page, or check them out on Spotify! And, of course, don't forget about Facebook.

Twice As Nice

Now-a-days making a name for yourself as an electronic music producer, you have to stand out. It seems like everyone and there mom is trying to become a DJ/Producer (myself included >.<) so getting noticed gets tougher and tougher every single day. However, when you do stumble across one that is both unique and well polished, it can be an awesome discovery! That's how I feel about Twice As Nice. Unfortunately it seems that they prefer relative anonymity which is illustrated in this photo with strategically placed paintbrush strokes to cover their faces.

What we do know is that Twice As Nice is comprised of two producers, Unknown & Lewis One, that began producing for artists in Australia, but relocated to Los Angeles upon signing to EMI. I know them mostly for the remixes they make, which are all very well done. Their sound is hard to classify as any one genre. Their tracks may have the BPM's typical of dubstep or moombahton tracks, but I definitely would not classify it as either. But who really cares! Good music doesn't need to be pigeon holed into any category or genre. Just hit play and enjoy it!

The last one is a track they produced for singer Matthew Koma who you all know from tracks like Spectrum or Sparks (Turn Off Your Mind). And you all BETTER know Coasts by now... I don't know how many more times I can jam them down your throats ;) So if you like any of these tracks (especially the ones for free download!), throw these talented dudes a 'Like' on Facebook and let them know you appreciate their skills.

Hudson Taylor

I just stumbled onto Hudson Taylor the other day and man was I pleasantly surprised! There is not much like a really great Folk band. Everyone that knows me knows my fanatic obsession with Mumford & Sons and how pained I was to hear they are taking a hiatus, so I needed a new fix to get me through. Hudson Taylor may definitely be that band! Their music is toe-tappingly catchy but still heartfelt and honest, which are the elements I look for in any folk artist.

This Irish folk duo just released their latest EP last month, called Osea. Fun fact: The name Osea comes from the name of the island they recorded the EP on. Here is the video for the single off of the new EP called Care. This one is for any guy in love with a girl who is with the wrong guy, a.k.a. the worst feeling ever.

Earlier this year they also put out an EP called Chasing Rubies with 3 amazing tracks on it. These three songs got me HOOKED on these guys. If you were to add any music of theirs to your collection, let it be these! Unlike the Osea EP (for now) this EP can be found on Spotify. Make sure you check out all three songs! To wet your appetite, here is an acoustic performance of my personal favorite track from Chasing Rubies, Butterflies.

Hudson Taylor are currently on tour in the UK, but no word as to them returning to the states. If you would like to be the first to know when they plan to return, make sure you follow them on Facebook and Twitter or check their website for even more about the band!

Banks

There has been an influx of up and coming female indie vocalists ever since Lana Del Rey's meteoric rise to stardom. Lorde was the first to make a big name for herself, and rightly so.. because she is amazing! However, Lorde aside, there has been one new voice that has really caught my eye as unique. Her name is Banks.

Banks is a singer/songwriter from the city of angels who has been creating quite a buzz around her music as of late. So much so that The Weeknd deemed her worthy to open up for him on his latest nationwide Kiss Land tour earlier this year. Like The Weeknd, her music is dark and melodic but she talks about real emotions/experiences that I am sure many women can relate too. For example, in her song Bedroom Wall she sings about being with a man that is distant as she tries to pull him closer, both physically and emotionally.

Another favorite track of mine is called Warm Water. I love the vibe, the hook and the sound of her voice over the incredibly minimal beat. Check out the official music video below.

If you dig her music you have to check out Before I Ever Met You, Change or This Is What It Feels Like on her Spotify or her SoundCloud. Make sure to follow her on Facebook to stay up to date on everything she does!
