Thomas Jack

I stumbled onto this guys SoundCloud page this morning and saw that he listed 'Tropical House' as the genre for his tracks/remixes and instantly knew I had found something I would like. Thomas Jack is a electronic producer from Australia that relocated to Miami to pursue his music career.

His sound has that very laidback house vibe with a tropical twist that takes you straight to your happy place. I have been seriously digging this style of music this year and couldn't be more pleased with this find. If you are a fan of Goldroom or overall good vibes, check out his remix of Benjamin Francis Leftwich that has been topping the Hype Machine charts lately!

Other notable remixes of his include his versions of Teenage Crime by Adrian Lux and Little Talks by Of Monsters & Men. Check them out as well!

His remixes really show off his style, but his originals are equally as good! It seems like his originals are abit more club oriented while his remixes are more for listening pleasure, or at least for a different setting than a nightclub. The original mixes have stronger bass lines but retain the tropical-sounding melodies that Thomas Jack is known for. Here is one that stood out to me the most.

This style of house music is definitely still emerging and growing, but I am very excited to see more artists like this that will continue to progress the music and hopefully begin to steal more listeners from the big room, electro-house craze like it did to me.

Follow Thomas Jack on Faceboook and/or Twitter to stay up to date on his whereabouts. If you like this sound, DEFINITELY check out my current fave Goldroom as well! So amazing.

Thumpers

It's everyone's least favorite day of the week, so I wanted to make sure today's first post was a nice pick-me-up this morning. Check out Thumpers!

This London-based 'Alt. Pop' duo has been quickly making a name for themselves after only scratching the surface of the internet last year. They have crafted a unique sound, comprised of a blend of catchy, radio friendly hooks and effervescent alt. rock/synthpop that is undeniably awesome. Here is the first song they ever released, called Dancing's Done

Upon it's release, it gained massive traction on all Major UK radio stations, including BBC Radio 1. This has allowed the band to tour extensively throughout the UK and to continue to making more music as Thumpers. Here is another track for your listening pleasure that has come out more recently.

Check out the boys on Facebook or listen to more of their music on SoundCloud, and, as always, they have been added to our Spotify Playlist so make sure you subscribe!

Asa

I have been REALLY into ambient music lately. My ears are hungover from all the rage-tastic electronic music that is currently popular. Recently I've been wanting my music to caress me with beautiful beats instead of taking my ears home and having sloppy drunken sex with them. If you, at times, also have a similar point of view, then check out Asa.

Asa was really the first producer that turned me onto this kind of music. The first time I heard his music was from this really cool video that accompanied tons of amazing video clips of nature with his latest EP at the time. Check out the video below, you won't regret it.

I remember how taken I was with the music from the video. It was so different to me at the time. I loved that he used real recordings of nature and paired them with unique vocal samples and threw it all over some really mellow, yet interesting beats. The best song from that video is this one, which also comes with a cool video!

You can find the whole EP on Spotify, along with his other EP, called Your Secret, where he partnered with Stumbeline, who is also partly responsible for the track above.

Recently Asa teamed up with KOAN Sound to release a 5-song EP called Sanctuary. It is absolutely brilliant. It is the perfect combination of the two's sounds: KOAN Sound bringing their glitch-hop/bass sounds together with Asa's beautiful dubstep/drum and bass compositions. The standout tracks for me are Sanctuary and Starlite.

Check out the rest of the EP on Spotify

Check out Asa's SoundCloud for even more music, and like him on Facebook to always be on top of his latest releases!

Lily & Madeleine

They say that most of time the simplest option is always the best. This rule of thumb even applies to music! True talent lies in simplicity. Lily & Madeleine prove that statement.

These two sisters from Indianapolis (one 18, one 16) have just released their first full length, self-titled album. It consists of stripped down, mostly acoustic arrangements (including strings on some songs) with blissful vocal harmonies that only blood relations can create. Pulling off vocal harmonies like these is not the easiest thing to do, especially on every single song! Yet they are as on point as they could ever be. In fact, don't take my word for it... Check it out for yourself!

But to fully appreciate the sound that these girls have created, you have to take a break from your busy life, turn off your cell phones and laptops and just listen. I know that sounds scary to most of you, but if you let the music fill your ears and listen to the lyrics inside of those crystalline harmonies, you will see exactly what I mean. Here is the album for your listening pleasure.

If you like what you hear, show them how much buy supporting their music! Their album is for sale on their Bandcamp page, or check them out on Spotify! And, of course, don't forget about Facebook.

Twice As Nice

Now-a-days making a name for yourself as an electronic music producer, you have to stand out. It seems like everyone and there mom is trying to become a DJ/Producer (myself included >.<) so getting noticed gets tougher and tougher every single day. However, when you do stumble across one that is both unique and well polished, it can be an awesome discovery! That's how I feel about Twice As Nice. Unfortunately it seems that they prefer relative anonymity which is illustrated in this photo with strategically placed paintbrush strokes to cover their faces.

What we do know is that Twice As Nice is comprised of two producers, Unknown & Lewis One, that began producing for artists in Australia, but relocated to Los Angeles upon signing to EMI. I know them mostly for the remixes they make, which are all very well done. Their sound is hard to classify as any one genre. Their tracks may have the BPM's typical of dubstep or moombahton tracks, but I definitely would not classify it as either. But who really cares! Good music doesn't need to be pigeon holed into any category or genre. Just hit play and enjoy it!

The last one is a track they produced for singer Matthew Koma who you all know from tracks like Spectrum or Sparks (Turn Off Your Mind). And you all BETTER know Coasts by now... I don't know how many more times I can jam them down your throats ;) So if you like any of these tracks (especially the ones for free download!), throw these talented dudes a 'Like' on Facebook and let them know you appreciate their skills.

Hudson Taylor

I just stumbled onto Hudson Taylor the other day and man was I pleasantly surprised! There is not much like a really great Folk band. Everyone that knows me knows my fanatic obsession with Mumford & Sons and how pained I was to hear they are taking a hiatus, so I needed a new fix to get me through. Hudson Taylor may definitely be that band! Their music is toe-tappingly catchy but still heartfelt and honest, which are the elements I look for in any folk artist.

This Irish folk duo just released their latest EP last month, called Osea. Fun fact: The name Osea comes from the name of the island they recorded the EP on. Here is the video for the single off of the new EP called Care. This one is for any guy in love with a girl who is with the wrong guy, a.k.a. the worst feeling ever.

Earlier this year they also put out an EP called Chasing Rubies with 3 amazing tracks on it. These three songs got me HOOKED on these guys. If you were to add any music of theirs to your collection, let it be these! Unlike the Osea EP (for now) this EP can be found on Spotify. Make sure you check out all three songs! To wet your appetite, here is an acoustic performance of my personal favorite track from Chasing Rubies, Butterflies.

Hudson Taylor are currently on tour in the UK, but no word as to them returning to the states. If you would like to be the first to know when they plan to return, make sure you follow them on Facebook and Twitter or check their website for even more about the band!

Banks

There has been an influx of up and coming female indie vocalists ever since Lana Del Rey's meteoric rise to stardom. Lorde was the first to make a big name for herself, and rightly so.. because she is amazing! However, Lorde aside, there has been one new voice that has really caught my eye as unique. Her name is Banks.

Banks is a singer/songwriter from the city of angels who has been creating quite a buzz around her music as of late. So much so that The Weeknd deemed her worthy to open up for him on his latest nationwide Kiss Land tour earlier this year. Like The Weeknd, her music is dark and melodic but she talks about real emotions/experiences that I am sure many women can relate too. For example, in her song Bedroom Wall she sings about being with a man that is distant as she tries to pull him closer, both physically and emotionally.

Another favorite track of mine is called Warm Water. I love the vibe, the hook and the sound of her voice over the incredibly minimal beat. Check out the official music video below.

If you dig her music you have to check out Before I Ever Met You, Change or This Is What It Feels Like on her Spotify or her SoundCloud. Make sure to follow her on Facebook to stay up to date on everything she does!

G-Eazy - Far Alone Ft. Jay Ant

We just witnessed the world premiere of G-Eazy's first single off his upcoming debut album These Things Happen called 'Far Alone' featuring Jay Ant! I have been following G-Eazy since The Outsider' and I must say, I LOVE how far he has come since then. This new track is legit! His laidback west coast style really shows through on this single and, as a bay area resident during my youth as well, I love it! Mac Dre would be proud.

The new video is about his youth growing up in Berkeley, CA and the life he lead to get him where he is today. G-Eazy says “I’ve been rapping and making beats since I was young so it was important for me to incorporate the influence of the Bay Area into what my sound has evolved into. This project marks the next chapter to me; a lot of reflection on everything that got me here, for better or for worse.” Check out the video below!

I cannot wait to hear his full length debut! These Things Happen will drop in February 2014. 'Like' him on Facebook to keep up with any tour dates in your area or new music from this rising Bay Area star!

The Sun And The Sea

The Sun And The Sea are the product of one of my favorite bands of all time. It is comprised of ex-members of the band The Graduate that called for an indefinite hiatus back in July of 2011, but it seems that some of the members weren't finished with music just yet. I was completely obessed with The Graduate. So when I found out about TSTS I was beyond excited. In early 2012 the band released their first EP as TSTS called Nightfalls. Check it out on Spotify!

When you listen to the EP it is apparent that the band is still trying to find their sound. The 7 tracks are like a meandering journey of ambient rock, but the direction for the band was set. It was a solid start. Check out my favorite track from the EP, Something We Can All Leave Behind.

Several months later TSTS came back with their latest release called Vega. Upon first listen to Vega I was blown away at the progress the band had made from their last EP. Every single song on Vega is something special. Listen to it on Spotify or check out my two favorite tracks out below.

Vega is definitely a departure in the right direction for TSTS. It is still ambient rock, but the electric guitars and drums are much more prevalent and the production is much better. This is one of those albums you can listen to over and over again and you will like each song more after every listen. This band may be a small, no-name band, but the members all have years of experience making music and touring the nation, and it shows.

It would mean so much to me if even one person supported this band. PLEASE purchase music from their BandCamp if you like what you hear, or at the very least throw them a 'Like' on Facebook!

Thank you, Enjoy! <3

Haerts

It is not very common that I am a fan of bands with female vocalists. I know, I probably should not say that out loud, but I wanna be real with you guys. However, Haerts has been one of those awesome exceptions! The band formed in 2012 and shortly after released their first single, Wings, which was produced by Jean-Philip Grobler (a.k.a. the one man band: St. Lucia.) This single was infectious with its 80's inspired sound and catchy hook. If you follow some of my playlists on Spotify, I am sure you have heard this before, but if you have not, check it out below!

Earlier this month the Brooklyn based quintet released their Hemiplegia EP, the first EP released by the band on Columbia Records. It included Wings and their latest single All The Days along with two other solid tracks. Check out the EP on Spotify! Here is the video for their second single, All The Days.

Haerts are definitely a band to keep an eye on as we head into 2014. I fully expect them to be aboard the festival circuit this upcoming season as more music begins to surface by this talented group. Get on the train now so you are prepared to see them perform at a festival near you next year! 'Like' them on Facebook or check out their website to keep up with the latest from this rising act.

Lastly, here's a free remix for your listening pleasure, courtesy of Shlomo!

Pixel Fix

I presume you will begin to see a recurring trend on this blog; as I have a definite affinity for the UK and the music that comes out of it. Something in the damp English air must somehow inspire musical genius! Today I wanted to shed some light on a brand new band called Pixel Fix from Oxford. The PF boys are apparently pals with the boys in Coasts who we featured last week in our inaugural post on Audible Twilight!

Their unique blending of mellow electronic production over hypnotic indie rock which, at times, reminds me of Explosions In The Sky, grabbed me immediately. They recently released their first self-titled EP and it is fantastic! Every song is its own entity, varying from all the others while the EP still retains a cohesive sound that ties everything together. Check out their video for their track Rosa below!

Listen to the full EP on Spotify or peep some of their chilled out remixes on their SoundCloud (including their remix of Coasts' latest single Stay!) And, as always, make sure you 'Like' them on Facebook and let them know if you're diggin the vibes!

Oceaán

Recently I have come up a very unique and talented producer hailing from the UK named Oceaán. I wouldn't even so much as call him a producer as I would a composer because of how beautiful his tracks are. I was turned onto his music from his remix of another favorite UK band of mine, Swim Deep. He remixed their track Honey into a downtempo, ambient dreamscape with solemn guitars and calming vocals, all dripping with reverb. Check it out below.

After hearing that first remix, I had to have more. After pouring over his SoundCloud (which is not as lengthy as I had hoped) I instantly fell in love with his sound. He can take any song and turn it into something special. His remix of Woman's Hour's song Darkest Place was the last straw for me. Simply amazing. I won't go into detail about the rest of his songs. Instead, I will let the music speak for itself. Check out his remixes below to hear more.

That brings me to his original work. I must say that I prefer his remixes to his originals, BUT that does not mean that his originals are any less great. I especially dig the track below. He only has two originals posted on his SoundCloud, but it is a great way to see how he started and it shows how much progress he has made in his production skills when you compare them to his more recent remixes.

Needless to say, Oceaán is definitely a producer to keep an eye on, because you can be sure that anything with his name on it will be worth the listen. All of his remixes are for free download.. so GET ON IT!!! If you want to keep up with all things Oceaán follow him on SoundCloud, and go 'Like' him on Facebook too!

Pusha T - My Name Is My Name

Pusha T released his latest LP last month, My Name Is My Name, and to be honest, it flew under my radar until a few days ago. Yes, I am ashamed to say that, but hey.. better late than never! I believe Pusha T is one of the most underrated hip hop artists in the game today. His lyricism is among the best and his delivery is on point as always. He has been releasing music for over 11 years, and he has carefully crafted his sound, style and image over the years and it has all culminated in this strong performance.

MNIMN is Pusha's sophomore release on Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music label and it features the likes of 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, The-Dream, Pharrell, Rick Ross, and the list goes on.

Now let's get to the music! After a couple thorough listens of the album, the standout track to me would be Nosetalgia featuring the gifted Kendrick Lamar. Over a simple beat made up of 3 different guitar notes and some simple percussion, the lyricism is the best part of this track. Pusha and Kendrick each lay down amazing verses. Take a listen below to see what I mean.

In an depth interview/conversation between Pusha T and NPR, King Push explains that his favorite track on the album is S.N.I.T.C.H. featuring Pharrell. The song tells the story of a real experience Pusha T dealt with when a friend of his called him from jail to tell him he won't ever be calling Pusha again because he will be going into witness protection after he cooperates with the police. The acronym stands for "Sorry Nigga, I'm Tryna Come Home." It is a unique perspective that most rappers won't portray in their music. He explained how the track came to fruition when he told Pharrell about what happened and he responded "There's a song there. That story needs to be told." Take a listen below

If you want to check out the album, it is for sale on iTunes or you can listen to it on Spotify. Other mentionable tracks include: Sweet Serenade, Numbers On The Boards and Who I Am. To keep up with Pusha T, check out any of the following links:

Coasts - Stay EP

For my first post I want to feature one of the bands I have been very excited about this year. Say hello to Coasts! Last year the Bristol band from across the Atlantic released a very impressive four-song EP called Paradise. I fell in love with them after hearing their first single off the EP, Oceans. Check that song out below..

As great as the Paradise EP is, that is not the reason for this post. Coasts just released their latest single, called Stay, along with a B-side track called Come a Little Closer as well as a couple remixes for Stay. The band also released a music video for Stay, which features two young women that are clinging to the last moments they have to share with each other. The video is beautifully done and is definitely worth the watch.

I also wanted to feature my favorite remix from this new EP that shows the song in a different light. Producer Giuliano Rascan has flipped the laidback, sun bathed guitar licks to euphoric progressive house synths. I loved this remix because it allows the listener to feel two different ways about the same song: one being a desperate longing feeling for something that once was, and the other being an elated expression of love. Big ups to Giuliano Rascan for an excellent remix!

If you would like to keep up with Coasts with me as I pray for their live debut in beautiful San Diego where their music is all too fitting, check out their various web presences here:
